(Jon Bon Jovi from 1985 via the 'un' page...thanks Lisa for passing this along!)

This was an article that was published in the Grand Rapids Press on July 5, 1985 under the headline: “Bon Jovi wants to sell music, not image.” By Mark Newman.

It is so interesting to see what Jon said about their group so many years ago...“The problem last year was people didn’t know if we were going to be the Thompson Twins or Van Halen. It was hard for them to relate to ‘Bon Jovi’ and what the name meant.”

He’s confident the maturity shown by the band on its second album will help win new fans to the group.

“We’re interested in being a slow-burner, a band that’s around for 20 years,” he said.
