My first job was as a 'Soda Jerk' at Cone Corners in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. (cheesy , huh?)
Every spring, I participate in the World's Largest Trivia Contest in my hometown of Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Out of about 500 teams and 10-12,000 players, we usually finish in the top 100!!! It's 54 straight hours of useless information and I love it. See? I'm not wired right. Just for the record, my team place 73rd this year. :)
I am a proud doggie mommy of "Spooner". She's a rescue who was an abused puppy mill mom. I am amazed at the FANTASTIC rescues and shelters we have in West Michigan. If you think you want to add to your family, the joy of a shelter pet in unparalleled!
I was the lead singer in a cover band and I miss it.
Could you imagine walking from Grand Haven to Lansing on stilts?
Neil Sauter holds the world record for the fastest marathon on stilts. He also completed an 830 mile walk across our state on stilts. One of WZZM 13's Facebook fans tipped us off to his latest journey, which stretches from Grand Haven to Lansing to help people with cerebral palsy. It's a condition Sauter knows all too much about.
"I have a mild case of cerebral palsy which affects my legs, so when I walk my legs turn inward and I walk really flat footed. Now I use my stilt walking to encourage others to rise above their challenges or overcome the obstacles they face," says Sauter.
Sauter started his 100 mile journey Tuesday, which was World Cerebral Palsy Day. The money he raises during his trek will go to United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan to help people with disabilities live independently
