Kalamazoo Nature Center Celebrates Holidays at the Homestead
The Kalamazoo Nature Center’s DeLano Homestead will be decked out for the holiday celebrations on December 1 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Visitors can explore the beautifully decorated 1858 farmhouse; kids can enjoy making ginger cookies and a holiday craft while spinners and weavers demonstrate their craft to the sounds of live music in the parlor. Blacksmiths will be at work, you can try your hand at candle making, and there will be horse drawn wagon rides for $1 per ride. Admission is $7 for adults, $6 for seniors, $4 for kids & students (4-17), and free for kids under 3 and KNC members.
Giftworks: Make it, Take it, Give it
Join the Grand Rapids Children’s Museum to make a gift to give to someone special. On November 29 and 30, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., come and make a pine cone bird feeder. The cost is free!
Christmas and Holiday Traditions Around the World at Frederik Meijer Gardens
Excitement surrounds us this time of year as Christmas and Holiday Traditions Around the World brings the glow of 300,000 lights, strolling carolers, horse-drawn carriage rides and 42 international trees and displays. This joy-filled annual exhibition, now in it's 19th year, is a hallmark of Meijer Gardens' exhibition offerings.
The Santa Train in Coopersville
Everyone loves Santa and Santa loves kids. On November 30, each of the vintage passenger cars has a special seat reserved just for the Big Guy and his friends. Elves will escort the children to sit with Santa. All kids get a present, even the shy ones! The story-telling Princess will read from the book, "The Polar Express" which was written by Grand Rapids native, Chris Van Allsburg. All of our cars are comfortably heated and each has a restroom on board.
2013 Festival of Trees in South Haven
The public will have the opportunity to bid on many beautiful trees and wreaths on display at City Hall. Gift Baskets filled with many different items and Christmas Centerpieces are also available for purchase. The Festival of Trees is an annual event that is put together by We Care I.N.C. and many volunteers from our community.
